Like many businesses, the Covid pandemic hit Lucy Green and Amy Scott’s womenswear business hard. And once the social restrictions were lifted, a lot was riding on an expectation that sales would bounce back.

But unfortunately, this just wasn’t the case, as Lucy explained,

“We almost expected sales to come to us, but we needed that push, we both needed to be put into the limelight really.”

It was a loss of motivation and a sense of overwhelm as to how they could turn their business around that led Lucy and her co-director Amy to seek help from ActionCOACH Wakefield.

Bringing business coach Alex on board has proved to be a journey of personal growth for Lucy. As a busy mum and wife, as well as a business owner, it was a revelation to contemplate her own goals and dreams for the first time.

“I’ve never considered what I want, so it’s been a personal growth to be able to look at that and link it into the business and then visualise it.”

Having worked with Alex to determine their long- and short-term goals for the business, they then put together a plan to achieve them, including daily, weekly and monthly actions and targets around their marketing, social media, website and cash flow.

It’s here that Lucy has found the accountability invaluable.

“It’s just little things that make a massive difference… I can’t wait to tell Alex what we have achieved in a week or a month. Sometimes it really does just take somebody holding you accountable.”

Whilst this is only the beginning of the coaching journey, the impact on Lucy’s business has been “massive”. They’ve seen a big monthly turnover increase, which is back up to pre-Covid levels.

“Everything’s increasing, all the numbers are going up.”

And perhaps more importantly, the Co-Directors have a better relationship than ever before.

“Just having the mindset, motivation and the ‘what can we achieve?’ and ‘what are our goals?’ and they match now… it’s like we’re on the same page.”

Not only that, Lucy is much more relaxed, motivated and confident, including in her daily social media tasks.

“I never had any confidence in the talking on social media. Now I’m happy being in the videos, I’ve been in the photos, I’ve had a lot of great feedback from friends, because they’re seeing that I’m actually enjoying doing those videos.”

Lucy knows that without ActionCOACH, her business just wouldn’t be in its current strong position.

“I would definitely say to anybody who was considering it, just to have that first phone call.”
